It's been about 2 months since I last wrote on my blog. Not much has changed in my life in two months but I did get to go see my niece Annabelle for her 1st birthday party in California at the end of September as well as see my mom (who I miss more than anything) Doug, and Watson. For the party Jenny and I decorated the back yard with 150 pink polka dots and James set up a huge blow up play house for the kids. Dillon and Charlie also helped around the house with the decorations before the party started. The turn out was good and everyone had a really great time eating, laughing, and watching Annabelle open her birthday presents. I will have to post some pictures online when I get them from Jenny.

I'm still working really hard at my job and trying to get a raise by 2009 but I got some bad news a couple weeks ago from my boss. After spending a weekend with my family in California, I got called into my boss's office and she told me that I couldn't take ANY time off for Thanksgiving or Christmas. For alot of families, this wouldn't be a big deal because most families live fairly close together but I was devastated because my ENTIRE family is going to be in California this year for christmas. I tried to keep it together while I was in my boss's office talking with her about it but the second I left her office I broke down and cried. Family is the most important thing in my life and to be without them for two holidays will be very difficult, especially because I wasn't with most of them last year during the holidays. I had really been looking forward to spending a Christmas in California but because I am still considered new at Kipp & Christian, I am last when it comes to taking any time off in the company. I'm thinking that this year I will sign up to do some volunteer work at Sub for Santa to keep me occupied during the holidays, after all, serving others always makes you forget about yourself.

Another thing that has kept my mind busy lately has been this election. I am so proud to be able to vote for the first time, especially because this is the most important election we've seen in a long time. I have not decided which party I agree with most in general, but I am going to be voting for the first black president this year, Barak Obama. I am very proud to be an Obama supporter and I am happy with the feelings of hope he has restored to this country. Most people in my family are voting for McCain, which I understand completely but I know my Grandma Joy (my mom's mom) will be very proud of my decision as she is a avid Democrat. Many people may disagree and dig up dirt on Obama but I strongly believe he has the strength and ability to turn our country around if he is elected. I don't like to talk politics with my family because I think most the time it only causes friction and argument but I'd like to think that I've been pretty open about the cadidates this year and I can't go wrong if I listen to my gut. We will see how it all unfolds but I'm very excited to be a part of it and see what happens.
